Olive Tree 45L 1.5-1.8m + Teracotta Pot + Soil + Gravel | S251811
Design Inspiration
Mediterranean presence meeting British climate resilience. This mature olive tree arrives professionally shaped into lollipop form - single trunk supporting rounded canopy, structure already established, years of nursery cultivation completed. One hundred fifty to one hundred eighty centimetres current height, supplied in forty-five litre terracotta pot with gravel top dressing providing finished presentation requiring no additional styling.
Hardy enough for British winters in sheltered positions, tolerating temperatures down to minus ten Celsius once established. Prefers full sun but accepts partial shade, drought-tolerant once roots establish, low maintenance compared to most ornamental trees. May produce olives between July and August depending on summer heat and pollination - fruiting bonus rather than guaranteed crop, the tree’s architectural presence justifying placement regardless of harvest.
Lollipop shaping suits formal positioning: flanking doorways symmetrically, anchoring patio corners, providing vertical punctuation in contemporary gardens. The form reads Mediterranean without requiring Mediterranean climate, evergreen silver-grey foliage maintaining year-round interest when deciduous plants surrender structure.
Terracotta pot included - porous clay allowing root breathing, traditional material appropriate to olive cultivation, substantial enough to anchor tree against wind without requiring permanent ground planting. Gravel top dressing suppresses weeds, retains moisture, provides finished aesthetic. Can remain potted indefinitely with annual root pruning, or plant directly into ground for unrestricted growth.
Olives tolerate neglect better than most ornamental plants. Water during establishment year; thereafter only during prolonged drought. Feed spring and summer with balanced fertilizer. Prune to maintain shape and size - responsive to cutting, forgiving of amateur technique. Protect from harsh winter winds in exposed locations; otherwise remarkably resilient.
CARE: Water moderately, allowing soil to dry between waterings. Protect from temperatures below minus ten. Prune late winter or early spring. Repot every 3-4 years or plant in ground for unrestricted growth.
